GARY STEELE
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Gary Steele from Cleveland, North Carolina, was elected to serve a two-year term as an international director of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 107th international convention in Orlando, Florida, USA, July 13 through July 17, 2025.
Director Steele holds a bachelor’s degree in management studies from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He served as assistant director of law enforcement and security for the U.S. Army’s military police and received multiple commendations. In addition, he was a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) officer.
A Lion since 2002, Director Steele has held several offices within the association including zone chair, second vice district governor, first vice district governor, district governor, district diabetes chair, district Lions staff administrator, council chairperson, council secretary/treasurer and diabetes awareness chairperson.
Director Steele has received numerous awards including two Lion of the Year awards, the Beacon of Hope Award, the Jack Stickley Fellowship and the Helen Hudson Best Secretary Award. He is the recipient of multiple International President’s Awards and International President’s Leadership Awards and is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
Director Steele and his wife Elizabeth, also a Lion and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have two children and seven grandchildren.
